About Eclatante
Flutist Sharon Pabon and Harpist Melissa Dvorak met while studying at Peabody Conservatory and have been performing together since 2000. They are devoted to making classical art music accessible to all people. They strive to enhance their audiences' experience of the flute and harp repertoire through diverse programming and explanations of historical and musical context. Most recently, Melissa and Sharon have performed on the Salisbury University Cultural Events Series and the U.S. State Department’s State of the Arts Concert Series, and at St. Michael's Church in Silver Spring, Maryland. They have been coached by Alice Weinreb and Jeanne Chalifoux.
Flutist Sharon Pabon
An enthusiastic performer and teacher, Sharon Woster Pabon freelances throughout the Washington, D.C./Baltimore area and has performed at a variety of venues, including the U.S. Capitol, the U.S. Department of State, the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Summer Opera Theater Company, Opera International, and the Baltimore Museum of Art. She also has a special interest in bringing music to places it is not ordinarily heard, such as nursing and rehabilitation centers, hospital rooms, and inner city schools. Sharon enjoys a busy teaching career, maintaining a private flute studio as well as faculty positions with the D.C. Youth Orchestra Program and Musical Expressions in Bethesda, Maryland. She has placed first in the Mid-Atlantic Flute Fair Collegiate Soloist competition and is a winner of Flute Society of Washington master class competitions. Sharon received a Bachelor of Music in flute performance from Catholic University of America and a Master of Music in flute performance from Peabody Conservatory. Her teachers include Alice Weinreb, Emily Skala, Mark Sparks, and Marybeth Lewandowski. You can learn more about Sharon at her website.
Harpist Melissa Tardiff Dvorak
Melissa Tardiff Dvorak is an active soloist and chamber music musician in the Greater Washington DC area, performing frequently at locations including the Supreme Court, The US Department of State, the Kennedy Center, Myerhoff Symphony Hall, Strathmore Music Center, the US Naval Academy, DAR Constitution Hall, the Georgetown Club, The Ritz Carlton and other area landmarks. Her recent orchestral appearances include Washington National Opera, National Philharmonic, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Maryland Symphony, the Arlington Symphony, and the Salisbury Symphony. Melissa was the featured harpist for the 55th Presidential Inauguration of George W. Bush. She has appeared with the Anne Murry and Connie Francis Touring Bands, with the Mambo Kings, and at the world premiere of the hit movie "Gods and Generals." In addition to a busy performance schedule, Melissa maintains a private teaching studio as well as faculty positions at Salisbury University (Maryland), Howard University (Washington, DC) and the Holton-Arms School in Bethesda, MD. Melissa holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Harp Performance from The Peabody Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD. While a student, Melissa was the recipient of both the prestigious Merit Scholarship and the Peabody Career Development Grant. She has studied with world-renowned harpists Alice Chalifoux and Jeanne Chalifoux, and attended the prestigious Salzedo Summer Harp Colony in Camden, Maine, for 7 summers.
